Florida's One Campaign: One Client. One Attorney. One Promise.
In October 2010, the Florida Supreme Court’s Standing Committee on Pro Bono (led by First District Court of Appeal Judge William Van Nortwick) will launch the One Campaign in an attempt to encourage Florida attorneys to uphold the vow we each took in our Oath of Attorney, to “never reject the cause of the defenseless or oppressed or delay anyone’s cause for lucre or malice.” The idea behind the initiative is simple: in a state with over 80,000 practicing attorneys, if every attorney took just one pro bono case a year, that single contribution would drastically reduce the enormous backlog of cases that currently burdens our judicial system and significantly improve access to justice for all Florida residents.
